I think of marketing as spreading the word. The sale is the last step in the process. We need to decide what this “thing” is that we want, need, and can’t live without anymore. Make a great product or service that solves a real problem. And keep it simple, or as simple as you can. When making or improving the product, put yourself in the customer’s shoes. Understand how they feel and try to help them.
If you struggle with role-playing, talk to real clients to discover their dislikes. People spend money every day in this economy, but only when they need to. And a lot of the time, ‘necessary’ just means ‘impossible to resist’. So make a product that your target audience can’t resist and then market it as if it matters.
